Dr. Frank Waldreth Mead

Dr. Frank Waldreth Mead passed away on October 12, 2012 in Gainesville FL.
Frank was
born in Columbus Ohio on June 11, 1922. He served in the US Army in
WWII..Dr. Mead graduated
from
Ohio State University, where he also received his MS degree. He
received his Ph.D from North Carolina State University, and worked for
the State of Florida Department of Agriculture from 1953 until his
retirement in 1994. He was an international expert on Hemipteran insects.
Dr. Mead was an avid photographer and traveler. He was very active
in the Audobon Society, Wheaton Club, Alachua County Historical
Society, and the Florida Entomological Society.
