Dr. JC Webb

Dr. JC Webb, age 81, of
Gainesville, FL, passed away on Wednesday March 21, 2012 in Gainesville.
JC was
born in Alabama on March 31, 1930. He was a veteran of the Korean War,
having served on the
destroyer USS Mansfield as an Electrician's Mate. Dr. Webb graduated
from
Auburn and received his Master's degree and Ph.D. from the University
of
Tennessee. He moved his family to Gainesville in 1970, and worked for
the USDA, Agricultural Research Service in Gainesville, FL until
retiring in 1989. Dr. Webb was an international authority on insect
bioacoustics.
Dr. Webb received many awards for
his scientific work including the National Society of Professional Engineers
Award for the Agricultural Research Service Federal Engineer of the Year in
Feb. 1987. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and above all
being with family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He is survived by
his beloved wife of 61 years, Earline, son Michael E. Webb, son Daniel H. Webb
and his wife and 3 grandchildren Jaime L. Webb, Dylan Webb and Daniel Webb.
